Dr. Irina Arhipova is Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, Latvia Ministry of Education and Science. She earned her bachelor degree in mathematics at Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov and her doctor degree in engineering science was defended at Latvia University of Agriculture. She has been with the Latvia University of Agriculture since 1985, first as an engineer-programmer, but later as assistant professor, Head of the Research Department, Dean of the Faculty of Information technologies and full professor from 2006. Dr. Arhipova has served in the post of Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, Latvia Ministry of Education and Science since 2008.

 

Dr. Arhipova is a member of the Latvia Research Qualification Commission and Strategic Commission of the Latvia Council of Science. She is the Latvia Council of Science expert in the field of Information Technology. Dr. Arhipova is a member of the Latvia Econometric Society, LLMZA (Latvia Agriculture and Forestry Academy) Agricultural economics department, the Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association (LIKTA) and other professional organizations.

 

In 2007 Irina Arhipova has granted Latvia Education Fund and A/s Exigen Services DATI award about higher qualification specialists’ preparation. In 2008 Jelgava City Council granted award of gratitude for the high professional skills, investment in new generation of education and civic activities. In 2010 Irina Arhipova has granted Latvia Ministry of Education and Science award for the contribution and quality of science policy development and implementation.
